“I was looking for the beach…but this clover will suffice.”
This Laughing Gull made me chuckle as I was editing photos this past weekend.
He looks a little displaced, don’t you think?

I spent 4 hours toting my elderly folks around to various doctor appointments and such Monday afternoon, argh! At one point, I did manage to drag them into a local frozen yogurt joint and we really had a blast – they were like two little kids! It was funny observing their protests turn to glee with one bite of simple frozen dairy and some toppings.
So by the time I made it back home, it was dinner time. Normally I relish cooking and creating – not today, my you-know-what was dragging and I simply could not channel Julia Child! Continue reading

This Carolina Anole is looking for a fashion update.
He spent several minutes attempting to chew off the loose skin from his feet.
Mostly he lolled about, perhaps hoping the old winter clothing would just fall off.
A few days later I spied him (or one of his kin) on my house siding, all bright and green.
I think he was showing off his new summer duds!

Homemade, warm from the oven pizza is soooooo good and satisfying, especially if you’ve made it yourself! It’s taken me several months, countless recipes and dozens of trials to find a recipe that consistently produces a tasty pizza with a good crust that is neither cracker thin nor too doughy. Once upon a time, I was creative. I enjoyed writing poetry and essays. Various sketches lined my walls. Photography class in college ignited me. Work as a stone artisan was challenging and inspiring. My artistic alter ego and I were happy and content.
Then, life and responsibility took over. New motherhood, exhaustion and a “normal” desk job seemingly left little time for me to spend with my creative counterpart. Despondent, my alter ego left me and shut herself away for a number of years. She would emerge here and there when I was crafting with the kids. She’d appear briefly when I was picking out paint colors for the house. She tried in vain to remind me that I was once artsy and eclectic. I continually ignored her and went about my daily hectic routine.

Luckily, my daughter spied and then gently relocated the above Luna moth from her boyfriend’s truck tire before they drove off!
These lovely photographs were taken by my daughter…with her I-Phone! I was planning on upgrading my camera; now I’m wondering if I should be upgrading my mobile phone instead.
Enjoy a wonderful and safe weekend!
